OPENING HOURS

We are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays 10-1. 2-5pm. Customers are most welcome to visit at other times, but please ring first to check that we are here. Our Address is 23, Sheep Street, Burford OX18 4LS. Phone number is 44-(0)1993-822969.

BOOKS IN TURL STREET FOR STUDENTS

We now have a range of Classics Books upstairs in our old shop - 3, Turl Street in Oxford, now Scriptum. These are mainly Loebs, texts, paperbacks, plus some general books. ALL AT VERY LOW PRICES.

BUS TIMES FROM OXFORD

THE BEST SERVICE IS THE 53 SWANBROOK COACH SERVICE FROM OXFORD TO CHELTENHAM. IT LEAVES OXFORD (AT THE TAYLORIAN INSTITUTE ON ST GILES) AT 9AM, OR 12.45, AND TAKES 45 MINUTES. RETURN SERVICE AT 11.45 OR 16.45. THE STOP IS ON THE A40, AND YOU HAVE TO WALK DOWN THE HILL INTO BURFORD.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership enables you to view new stock in advance, and without trawling through the whole site. It also makes ordering books slightly easier. We need your address to add you to the list, and will then give you a password. You will need to log in using your email address.

ABOUT US

The Classics Bookshop was started in 1975 by Anne and Philip Powell-Jones. We specialise exclusively in Latin and Greek Classics, and the Ancient Classical World. We are always happy to answer any queries.
